I still remember the exact moment she told me. On a brief visit to Wisconsin last March, my friend Krista and I got together one last time before it was time for me to leave. We were having breakfast at a local restaurant, catching up about our lives and our marriages. And then I asked.

It was a completely legitimate question. Several of us got married in the same year and since the first couple had a baby that past December, an unofficial poll was being taken amongst our friends to see who was next. And to my surprise, I discovered that for Krista and Jared, it was no longer a question of "when". I think I shrieked. Just a little. But I couldn't help myself.

For as long as I can remember, being a mother is something Krista has always dreamed about. In the second grade, we would play barbies together in her family's basement, weaving together stories about the adventures of Barbie and Ken, while talking about how much our own children would have fun playing with these same dolls someday. In junior high, we discovered boys. We'd spend every sleepover dreaming about being Mr. and Mrs. Crush-of-the-moment, imagining what lives we would lead and the number of children we would have.

And now, Krista has the life she's always dreamt of having and the one she's always been meant to lead, with a loving husband and the start of a beautiful family. There is no higher calling.

While I was in town doing Krista and Jared's photoshoot, my mom and I had "the girls" over to our place; two generations in one room, laughing and sharing with one another. And seeing the beginnings of a third generation. It was absolutely beautiful.

I am so thrilled for Krista and Jared. They are going to make incredible parents. So here's to the next generation, Alexandria Paige Wallen. I can't wait to meet you.

* Baby Lexy was welcomed into the world two days after this photo shoot, six weeks early. She is healthy, but at the moment, she is still in the hospital. It would mean so much to me if you would keep Krista, Jared and little Lexy in your prayers so that they can bring her home soon. Thank you!

I find it interesting how time and time again love seems to weave its way into people's lives when they least expect it. How incredible it is when one stops searching for love - not from the disappointment that comes in believing that love may be only for everyone else, but through the understanding and reliance that there is One whose timing is perfect - is when it finally appears.

Enter Lauren and Adam; two people whose paths crossed less than a year ago. At the time, they were both content to be patient and trust that there was plan for their lives far greater than they ever imagined. And since meeting each other, their lives have never been the same.

It is completely evident to anyone who spends even a moment with these two that what they share is something truly special and unique; the constant smiles, genuine laughter and radiating joy. And pure contentment. Content in being exactly who they are, where they are and making the most of every moment they have together.

All based on a strong foundation of faith in the One who brought them together. Putting God first in their lives, as individuals as well as a couple, and then thinking of each other before themselves. It seems to be a simple recipe for a solid relationship, but often the most difficult elements to achieve. But for Lauren and Adam, it's just who they are.

Brought together by God's perfect timing. And I'm so looking forward to seeing what's ahead for these two. (No pressure!)

They say that once you become a parent, all else pales in comparison. I'm honestly not sure who "they" really are and never having been a parent myself, I can't verify this as fact or fiction from personal experience. I can, however, say that I'm inclined to agree, now having spent time with one of the most precious bundles of joy ever and his parents who just can't stop glowing with happiness. Born July 13 at 9:07 p.m., 6lbs 4.4 oz. and 19 3/4" long, this little man has completely stolen my heart.

Graham is a true blessing in every way. Nick and Julie have waited a long time for him to arrive. Now that he's here, they can't even remember what life was like just a few short weeks ago. And they certainly don't want to when they have a beautiful little boy with ten perfect fingers, ten perfect toes and an already adorable smile to love on.

Future football star? Brilliant scientist? Famous (and highly good-looking, of course) actor? Major business tycoon? Time will only tell what the future holds for this tiny life. For now, Nick and Julie are willing to savor every moment with this precious gift they've been given. And I'm perfectly content to share this journey right along with them.
